Blair moved through the dim aisles of the market, each step wandering around her imaginary world. Everything felt suspended, like a pause in the real world. She was lost in it, until a figure caught her eye—a mysterious man standing near the shelves. His gaze locked onto hers for a moment, and the world stilled.
Inside, a voice whispered: "Stop looking at me like that…”
She averted her gaze immediately but the intensity of his stare lingered. It wasn’t just a glance; it felt danger, like it carried a weight of meaning she could guess. She knew that look very, very well. Blair took a small step back, regaining control.
“Excuse me,” she said, her voice calm yet distant and cold as ice.
The man moved aside, yet his eyes stayed with hers for just a moment longer. No words were exchanged but something hung in the space between the two, unspoken. Blair continued moving away, her steps quicker now, not looking back.
As she reached the cashier and left the market, the cool air hit her. That gaze however remained, like an echo.
