It was early, the streetlights were still on, the sun was just breaking the horizon, sending a cascade of orange and red light into the sky. There was a slight fog in the air, the result of warm ground and cool night air mixing until the rays of the sun banished them.
He was wearing shorts and running shoes, a belt around his waist held a water bottle and his phone. The earbuds helped drown out his thoughts with music, he had been working his way through the library of recordings of the band.
His body was covered in perspiration, as he continued to run, his feet keeping a steady beat on the pavement. He blamed his Dad and brother for this, the early morning runs had become a thing.
It was a way to clear the mind, to focus, to burn off the fog that clouded the thoughts. He had a lot of thoughts racing around in his head at the moment, and little clarity, so he did the smart thing and kept on running.
