For the Boy Who Carries My NameToday’s your birthday, little man. And I’m sat in the back of a tour bus somewhere between two cities I barely remember, thinkin’ about you more than I can stand.
You’re growin’ fast—too fast—and I’m missin’ bits. Not just moments, but versions of you. The laugh that used to squeak but doesn’t anymore. The way your hand used to fit in mine like a secret handshake. The questions you’d ask before bed that always hit deeper than any lyric I’ve ever written. I swear, I turn my back for one encore and you’re taller, smarter, more you.
Leavin’ you in Londres was hard. Leavin’ you in Rio? That was brutal. Felt like I was cuttin’ my own shadow loose. But I knew—I knew—you needed roots. Not just hotel pillows and backstage passes. A place to make friends, to fall and learn to stand back up. A place where your name means you, not “Lee Miller’s son.”
And truth be told, mate.. I see myself in you. The spark. The restlessness. That stubborn fire in your eyes that says you’ll find your own way, no matter how loud the world gets. But you’re softer too. Kinder. You got my noise, and somehow you’re teachin’ me how to be better, just by existin’.
I’m proud of you in ways I never knew were possible. Even from afar, I carry you with me. You’re every riff I play and every reason I come back home.
