Lucas was sitting on the bed, propped up by some pillows, when the door opened. Hoshi entered silently, commanding respect simply by his presence. He watched Lucas for a moment, unable to hide the small spark of concern that still lingered in his eyes.

"You look better." He said as he closed the door. Lucas nodded, and the silence between them dragged on for a few seconds. Hoshi remained standing, hands behind his back, watching his son. "You should have been more careful."

Lucas lowered his eyes, embarrassed. He knew. New enemies had emerged, and even though he wasn't participating in the family conversations, he knew his father seemed more tense than before. The family's exposed weakness had hastened decisions that perhaps could have waited, like Felix's marriage.

"I'm sorry I was caught like that. If Felix's wedding is being rushed because of this, could they offer me instead?"

Hoshi's eyes narrowed.

"Offer you?"

"I'm not the heir to the main family, and I'm sure uncle Kieran had other plans before this.. happened to me. But I'm an heir too, I must be worth something." He commented in a low voice. Hoshi leaned forward slightly, studying every detail of his son's face. He was clutching his hand, standing bravely before his father. He knew that if it wasn't Felix, it would be Yvan, or someone else..

"You speak as if sacrifices were the solution to everything." And for a moment, Hoshi wondered who he got that trait from, always ready to hurt himself in someone else's place. He gave a slight smile, knowing full well who he got that stubborn streak that cost him gray hairs to keep him sane. "I'll consider your words."
