nobody ever would have expected that the boy with the golden voice would end up a baker. it had never exactly been his dream, but he was still pretty content with his life, with his little family with leo and lilith. he couldn't visualize things being any other way.
while leo was busy working on his art and lilith was either being watched by her doting grandpa, lucien, or at kindergarten, finn worked at the bakery.
he had learned over the years that the difference between a good dessert and the best dessert you've ever tasted was a love for the craft and, believe it or not, baking was an art form. he would never quite catch the eye of famous artists and buyers like his husband, but he put heart into everything that he made.
that day, he worked on something for his husband.
he'd put together the insides for a cherry pie, and then carefully constructed his art on the top of it. he sculpted the cobwebs and bones, cutting out pieces for the ribs and spine. everything that he did took careful precision, even though he knew that the pie was only going to be seen by his brother, mika, himself, leo, and lilith. still, he wanted it to be perfect. leo deserved nothing less.
when it was finished, he let it cool, then put it into a box that he tied with
a black and silver skull bow.
returning home in the evening, he placed it on the counter, leaving a little card by it with leo's name. it wasn't their anniversary, or either of their birthdays, or anything like that. he didn't need a reason to be leo's golden retriever husband. he just loved spoiling him, especially when he knew leo worked so hard.
