XXIX - Old Phone
You cannot contact the deceased.Finding his old phone, Elias stared at the last conversation he had with his cousin. His dark eyes locked on the message for a few fleeting moments, but in his mind it felt like an eternity had passed as bittersweet emotion played within his heart. He remembered that day with such happiness, looking over to Melissa in the back of the taxi to show her the text message from Cherish. Yet, it was a role that he held with much honor and pride; still to this day and most definitely until his very last breath.
Sitting there in the oasis of Singapore, the happy memory of the past left a taste of melancholy in his throat. Maybe it was because he was now spending his time between games out on the waves, listening to the stillness around him. The fighter in him was hard at work to push those emotions away - the things he did not talk about because he did not want to acknowledge that they were real - he did not want to speak them into such a cruel existence. Yet, that was the therapeutic nature of the sea that he was quickly learning - a moment of silence amongst a brewing storm.
