Love looks good on her
Bella stood in front of the mirror, towel-wrapped hair, bare-faced. Just as she was leaning in to apply mascara, she noticed something that made her freeze in place.
Her reflection was beaming at her.
It wasn't just any smile. This was sunshine-level smiling. Soft, glowing, involuntary. The kind of smile you don't plan. The kind that just happened to you.
Confused, Bella frowned slightly as she studied her reflection more carefully. This was the kind of smile Autumn was known for, the one that could light up an entire room, especially when she was around Cove. So what was it doing on Bella’s face?
Her fingers gently touched the corner of her mouth, like she was trying to figure out where this feeling even came from.
Suddenly his words echoed in her mind, from the night before:
"You really can’t top the gift your mother gave me… when she gave birth to you—YES, this is cheesy payback for ALMOST pranking me like that."
Bella had rolled her eyes at the time. Groaned at the cheesiness. But now, seeing the smile on her face, she realized it landed somewhere deeper.
No one had ever said something like that to her. Not like that. Not without knowing she needed to hear it.
Ever since overhearing her mother on the phone with Blue, Bella had felt like she didn't belong. Like the world didn't truly want her.
Teddy did. Without question. Without trying. Just… did.
Bella met her own gaze in the mirror again. And for the first time in years, she saw someone wanted. Someone loved. Someone who wasn't a mistake.
And just like that, the smile was back.
"Guess I better get used to this new look of mine... TV show’s going to be fun though: 'What's wrong with your face? Are you on drugs? Can I get a hit of that too?'" Bella smirked at her reflection: "The only drug I am on is looove -Oh, Kobe." Bella mumbled with a chuckle, rolling her eyes at herself.
