meeting Ian Eicher (1/2)
[Continued from here]
“What the heck did you do to the poor boy?!”
Ian Eicher, Trial by Fire’s new guitarist, lay unconscious, sprawled in an office chair under the panicked gaze of Ronan’s manager, PA, and agent. The motherly concern came straight from his agent, who’d developed an irrational soft spot for the addict-turned-superstar who was now drooling on his own T-shirt.
“I was just
joking! But he was sweating like a pig, all anxious, so I gave him the good news and—”
“Ronan, you
know people don’t get your sense of humor,” interceded his manager, all spotless in his expensive suit and quite unbothered by the little medical emergency at hand once the initial shock wore off.
“Sophia does,” the blond said, defensive, still unsure why he was suddenly the villain here.
“She married you. She has no other choice. No one else gets it, and this poor guy certainly didn’t.”
“I thought I was being very funny!”
“You don’t smile, Ronan. It’s creepy,” his agent said this time while she shook Ian gently, trying to wake him up.
“The whole point of stand-up comedy is delivering jokes with a straight face,” argued Ronan.
“Ricky Gervais’ straight face doesn’t look
murderous. Yours does,” retorted his manager with a straight, non-murderous face.
“Why are we debating my humor when my new guitarist is unconscious?” he pointed out.
