We hit a cemetery not long ago classic job, in and out but after, I swear I felt like the dead had followed me home. Couldn’t tell if I was breathing or just pretending to.
There’s a moment between chaos and the next hit. A pause. A breath. Not peace just the eye of the storm and you learn to sit in that silence like a loaded gun.
I don’t know how mortals live with it. The waiting and pretending but I’ve missed walking among the living like I belonged.
