World Cup in Johannesburg — Y149 ---> 2366015.1

I’ve joined Porto city’s team for the World Championship here in Johannesburg, together with David. As far as I can remember, this is the first time I’ve taken part in something like this... I must admit I’m surprised at how much attention and acceptance the event has received. Forty-five teams are signed up, which I believe is a record. So, well done Lapu-Lapu Lovecraft and crew!

Anyways, I’m not here to win — I mean, I wouldn’t mind if it happens, of course — but my spirit is first to support Porto (it’s not every day you get the chance to do something for your cityl), and then to support this 10th championship itself. It’s without doubt something worth celebrating, especially with this incredible turnout.

What I’m hoping for is more than just a good tournament as these competitions carry within them the seed of a story that sneaks up on you, one that grows without you even noticing. Maybe this will be one of those times… a love story that doesn’t announce itself, but just happens. Just like a ball finding the back of the net when nobody expected it.



Here’s to football, to being there in support, and to whatever surprises this championship has in store.
